At Gethsemane Baptist Church, we're always excited to welcome new visitors. We hope you'll join us for a service, and we want to make your visit as comfortable as possible. Here's what you can expect when you come to Gethsemane.
Our church is located at 7430 Seven Bridges Road, and parking is available around the church, with overflow parking near the fellowship hall. If you have mobility restrictions or young children to carry, feel free to use one of the spots closest to the door. We like to keep them free for visitors and people who need assistance.
Please don't worry about what you'll wear to church, for we truly believe people should come to God as they are. You don't need to dress up to get his approval--that comes through Jesus' sacrifice. Once you walk in the doors, you'll see that the congregation has all types of people in all kinds of attire and a church full of love.
When you walk in, you'll notice a lively and active congregation. Our greeters will be more than happy to provide a visitor's card and answer any questions you may have regarding the building, pastor, or congregation.
Be sure to hang around after the service. You'll have a chance to meet our pastor and many other people in the church. We'd also love to get to know you so you're a familiar face the next time you come.
History of Gethsemane
Gethsemane Baptist Church was founded in 1885 as part of a 2-week Revival held not far from the church's current location. The land where the church stands today was deeded in 1892. The construction of the Sanctuary building began at this time. Over the years, many additions were added to the Sanctuary, not least of which were the bathrooms in the early 1960's.
In 2012, construction on the Fellowship Hall was completed. Prior to its construction, members congregated around the grounds, using makeshift tables for fellowship.
To improve overall safety for our members, the church had part of the parking lot paved in 2025. This addition improved travel conditions for members and visitors with physical ailments.
2025 was also a big year for the church as Gethsemane Baptist celebrated their 140th anniversary.
